SCAVEM
Scan Velocity Modulation. Electronic function that gives
a dramatic improvement in picture quality
SSL
Secure Socket Layers. Netscape's de facto standard for
encrypting TCP/IP applications, but used mainly for encrypting
communications over the web.
SCSI
Pronounced 'scizzy', a SCSI (small computer system interface)
port is a specification for connecting hard disks, CD-ROMs,
printers and other devices to a computer.
SECAM
TV broadcast system used in France and some other countries.
Only multi-standard TV`s can receive these signals in
the UK - normal TV sets for this country can only receive
the PAL standard used here.
SLR
Stands for Single Lens Reflex. A mirror or prism reflects
light coming in through the lens to the viewfinder, so
when you look through it you see exactly what the camera
sees. This is very useful for framing your pictures accurately.
It is only found on a few of the most expensive digicams,
although is standard on many professional film cameras.
SVGA
Super Video Graphics Array. A display resolution of 800
x 600 pixels.
