IDTV
Television has a built-in ITV Digital decoder allowing the Television set to receive terrestrial digital channels without a set-top box. Free Channels include BBC1, BBC2, ITV1, Channel 4 , Channel 5. Picture and sound quality tends to be superior to that of Analogue due to a more robust signal.

IIS
Internet Information Server. This is the Microsoft web server program. A version called PWS (personal web server) is included with Windows 98.

Interactive Relay Chat - a method of communicating with other users on the Internet in real time using a text-based service.

IRS
Integrated Reception System, is a type of television distribution system, combining digital satellite (including Sky digital), digital terrestrial (including Freeview), and analogue terrestrial signals. These signals are distributed to points in each flat or home enabling residents to receive the television service of their choice (the system also distributes radio signals and CCTV as required)

ISDN
Integrated Services Digital Network. A fast phone line that significantly increases the rate at which you can transmit and receive information (either 64 or 128kbps), for example when connect to the Internet. If you have large files of data to transmit (such as video or high resolution photography) or you want to video and data conference regularly, you may want an ISDN line. Broadband connections are even faster than ISDN, and are beginning to supersede it).

ISO
Stands for International Standards Organisation. In conventional photography, the ISO number is a measure of the light sensitivity of photographic film, and this has been carried over into digital photography as a way of expressing light sensitivity of the CCD.

ISP
Internet service provider - an organisation which allows companies and individuals to connect to the Internet.
