NTI supports regional Budget Feature Film Seminar

The New Technology Institute is backing a major Budget Feature Film seminar at East Coast Media's Immage Studios during March.

The seminar, led by one of the region's most successful independent filmmakers, Owen Carey Jones, heralds a series of new commercial training modules devised by ECM and funded by the NTI and the Learning and Skills Council.

The modules are designed to bridge the gap between training in academic institutions and the real world of business and will be delivered by ECM who recently completed a highly successful digital business incubation project for Yorkshire Forward.

ECM have elected to kick off the series with their Budget Feature Film unit to capitalise on the recent successes experienced by Owen on the international festival circuit in American and France.

The seminar takes place on Saturday March 4 and Saturday March 18 with a practical exercise, giving candidates a certificated 30-hour learning experience, inbetween.

And as a result of sponsorship from Sony UK, Humber region candidates can take part free of charge thanks to the support of the NTI and LSC.

Owen, who used ECM's Yorkshire Forward-funded High Definition kit to make his highly successful 2005 festival entry "A Mind of Her Own" will tell would-be festival winners how he topped the awards in Indianapolis and Monaco.

The festival circuit is the natural stepping stone to the mainstream film industry, a notoriously painful ladder to climb, but Owen will give enthusiasts priceless information on how to conquer the festival scene..
The seminar is being run in association with Sony UK whose equipment was used in the production of the festival winning entries and was the first High Definition shooting and post-production kit used by a European training establishment.

Owen is the first company registered with the ECM KickStart scheme to film a feature length production and the HD tag opened doors for his festival entry.

Owen's determination to break into the film industry has seen him build some impressive contacts but also assemble a raft of experiences which will provide invaluable pointers to candidates at the seminar.
Owen will provide his personal experiences on budget, pitch, script, production, post-production, distribution and promotion.

Places at the Immage Studios are limited so register today by logging on to the East Coast Media start-up site ecmkickstart.co.uk and selecting the e-mail prompt "I'm Interested".

Fill in your name and alongside it write Budget Film and submit your application with your details accordingly.

ECM Solutions staff will inform you of your success at securing a place or otherwise.
A promotional video package, featuring Owen Carey Jones, also features on the NTI website.
