The ultimate aim of the brokerage is to encourage businesses to grow and develop skills to enable them to have the edge over their competitors. We don't want business to leave the area due to local companies' lack of expertise.

We want to train the local workforce to be as highly skilled as the competition regionally, nationally and internationally.

Yorkshire Forward and the Learning and Skills Council are working together with the common goal of local workforce development.

The Digital Industries Brokerage, through the New Technology Institute, will ensure an employer-led approach to the provision of skills training.

Our aims are to:

• identify training needs of employees via advice and guidance from local employers
• tailor training to meet their exact needs
• use local training providers, wherever possible
• ensure that the training provided is both relevant and high quality
• ensure that training is be task orientated
• tailored to the specific work the employer requires the employee to undertake

The overall impact and result of the implementation of these aims will be that local businesses expand.
